The beautiful Cinque Terra

From Vellano we drove to Levanto as we were booked in Vernazzo, show village of the Cinque Terra for the night.  Disappointingly but sadly, the track from Rigamaggoiria to Manarola and then on to Corniglia was still closed as a result of the flood.  However we happily caught the train to Corniglia to begin our hike over to Vernazza.  It was a relatively demanding walk on a perfect day.
Couldn't believe how good it was.  We walked along the coastline with its deep blue sparkly water and the track lined with olive groves and huge cacti.  We arrived in picturesque Vernazza and went straight to our accommodation, two minutes up the steps from the main road through Vernazza.  We couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces.  It had probably the best view in Vernazza.  We looked over the beach, the town and the harbour.  Here is our view.  How amazing is that.  Giovanni is sitting on our terrace

We went to the beach and had a couple of swims, walked around the town and had a good look around.  For dinner we had wonderful seafood meals.  I had my anchovy meal for which this area is notes.  We spent the night talking to a couple who were in show business.  She was in Hamburg playing the lead role in Phantom of he Opera and he was an opera singer in Venice.  Had a great night chatting.

Just a perfect day at the Cinque Terra.
